    The local picture

    Work that fits your property

Ardeer is a residential pocket between Sunshine and Deer Park, close to the Kororoit Creek corridor, with established houses, units and townhouses. Enquiries from homes like these often start at the switchboard: a safety switch that won't stay on, a fuse that keeps blowing, or a board with no room left for another circuit. The most useful first step is a clear photo of the board from outside with the cover closed, plus a note of which circuits are affected. Ardeer is an enquiry suburb for us rather than core territory, so tell us the address first and we'll confirm availability.

Every installation is different. We start with the symptoms, existing equipment and access, then explain the work needed and the options available.

    Homes in Ardeer

Older houses on their first switchboard

Houses still running on their original board tend to show it: ceramic rewireable fuses, a timber or dark backing panel, and circuits added over the years wherever there was a gap. Energy Safe Victoria lists old switchboards, particularly those without a safety switch, among the warning signs of faulty wiring. The usual fix is a new board with circuit breakers and safety switches, but we check the cable first. There's little point fitting a new board to circuits that need rewiring, and sometimes the sensible answer is to do both in stages.

    Units and townhouses

In units and townhouses, each dwelling's switchboard may be indoors, often in a hallway or garage, while the meters sit together in a shared enclosure near the street. When part of a unit loses power, the fault could be in a circuit, the board itself or the cable running from the meter to the unit. Tell us which unit it is, where its board is, and whether the neighbours have lost power too. That tells us early whether we're chasing your circuits or something further upstream.

    Houses that keep adding appliances

Many faults trace back to something new: a second split system, an induction cooktop, a spa pump or a workshop set up in the garage. The board may be sound, but a circuit is now carrying more than it was laid out for, or a new appliance is leaking a small current to earth and tripping the safety switch. Tell us what was connected and when the trouble started. That often points straight to the circuit we test first.

    Heating and cooling in Ardeer

Ardeer homes tend to run a mix: gas ducted or a gas space heater for winter, with split systems added for summer. Both need regular attention. Energy Safe Victoria recommends servicing gas heaters at least every two years by a qualified gasfitter, including a carbon monoxide test. The Victorian Government suggests cleaning the dust filters in a reverse-cycle unit about twice a year and servicing it as often as the manufacturer recommends. The system nobody has looked at for years is usually the one that stops mid-heatwave.

    Local notes

    Between Sunshine and Deer Park

Brimbank's community profile lists Ardeer among the council's suburbs. It sits between Sunshine and Deer Park, two of the established suburbs that a Victorian Electoral Commission profile of the municipality describes as characterised by pre- and post-war homes. Houses of that vintage have often been through several rounds of electrical additions, so we check the board and the existing circuits before quoting new work on them.

    Record heat and tired systems

The Bureau of Meteorology's Laverton station, south-west of Ardeer, recorded its highest temperature of 47.5 °C on 7 February 2009 and set a January record of 45.6 °C on 27 January 2026. On days like those every air conditioner in the house runs hard, and an overloaded circuit or a neglected unit is more likely to give up. Having the system serviced and the circuits checked in spring means those weak spots show up on a mild day instead.

A clear photo of the switchboard from the outside with the cover closed, and one of the meter box area as it looks from the street side. Tell us which circuits or rooms are affected, whether the problem started after something new was connected, and whether a safety switch or breaker has tripped. Please don't remove covers or panels to get a better shot. The enclosure and labels tell us plenty, and we open the board on site.

    • Couldn't be happier with Total Comfort Electrical & Air. I had a few quotes for the same job, but found some were extremely overpriced and others were quite pushy without really explaining why the work needed to be done. Aaron was completely different. He took his time, explained the job in detail, gave me more than one option and made sure I actually understood what I was paying for. He was extremely easy to deal with, did a great job and left everything clean and tidy. His price was competitive and the quality of the work was fantastic. It's honestly great to find a reliable tradesman who you can trust. Would definitely recommend Aaron and Total Comfort Electrical & Air!

    • Aaron was exceptional, I couldn't recommend him highly enough! He recently did some work at our house and was knowledgeable, tidy and genuinely lovely to have around. Our three year old followed him around for practically the entire day, and he was so patient and kind, happily chatting with her while he worked. We're so happy with everything he did and wouldn't hesitate to use him again.

    • Fantastic job today. Aaron arrived on time (was accurate in how long it would take), very professional, explaining everything as he went. Gave me extra tips on what to do in the future with my appliances. Best of all, he did a really good job (and really nice bloke). Would highly recommend.

    • Aaron did a great job of replacing a faultilt installed aircon on a 3 story townhouse. This wasn't a straightforward install given the property & there were suspected old leaks and further tests had to be done. He has many years of experience and talks you through it, manages the process and manages the expectations, timing delivery etc of more complex issues. He's really knowledgeable at what he does, and I got a free consult generally on my home and what would increase efficiencies in my home across the board. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, for the attention to detail and care you put into the work.

    • Aaron was super professional, did a fantastic job fixing my switchboard which was left in a complete mess by the solar / battery installers. Also installed an EV Charger, ceiling fans and replaced a split system. He didn't rush any part of the electrical works and was completely thorough and asked where and how I wanted everything installed.
