    The local picture

    Work that fits your property

Mambourin sits on Wyndham’s western edge, where new estates meet rural land. Many homes are brand new or still going up, and beyond the estates are properties with sheds, long driveways and open ground. The work here is usually about finishing a home rather than fixing one: power points the base package left out, outdoor lighting for a garden that is only just going in, and heating and cooling for rooms the builder didn’t cover. Tell us your estate name and whether you have the keys yet, and we plan the job around where the build is up to.

Every installation is different. We start with the symptoms, existing equipment and access, then explain the work needed and the options available.

    Homes in Mambourin

    New estate homes

Most new houses here are single or double-storey homes on estate lots, handed over with the builder’s standard electrical package. Safety switches are compulsory on new residential installations, so the board itself is modern, but the number of power points and outdoor lights is often basic. Heating and cooling might be one split system in the living area, or nothing at all, depending on the package. Adding to all of it after handover is routine work.

    All-electric new builds

Since 1 January 2024, new homes that need a planning permit have had to be all-electric, and from 1 January 2027 all new homes will be required to be built all-electric. In an all-electric home, heating, hot water and cooking all draw on the one electricity supply, which leaves less headroom for extras like a pool pump, a workshop or an EV charger. We check what the board and supply can carry before anything new goes on.

    Rural blocks, sheds and outbuildings

Away from the estates, rural properties have sheds, pumps and outbuildings some distance from the house. Getting power to them means sizing the cable for the distance, often a small sub-board in the shed, and choosing between trenching and an overhead run. Where poles and wires on a property carry supply from the network, they are part of the property’s installation: the owner is responsible for maintaining them and keeping their own trees clear of them.

    Heating and cooling in Mambourin

On a new estate there is little shade yet, and on the rural fringe not much to break a hot northerly. In a finished home, a split system per main room is often simplest: each unit suits its room and nothing is ducted through a finished ceiling. If the house is still at frame stage and you want ducted, raise it with your builder while the ceiling is open. On narrow side setbacks, we keep outdoor units away from bedroom windows, yours and next door’s.

    Local notes

    Its own locality in Wyndham

Mambourin is listed as a suburb and locality in its own right within the City of Wyndham, alongside neighbours such as Werribee and Wyndham Vale. New streets don’t always show up correctly in maps and booking systems straight away, so give us your street address, estate name and postcode when you enquire. It avoids mix-ups with nearby Werribee or Manor Lakes addresses.

    Cold, still winter nights

At the Bureau’s Laverton weather station, east of here, July is the coldest month, with a mean minimum of 5.2 °C, and June and August are close behind at 5.9 °C and 5.7 °C. Victorians use more energy for heating than for cooling, so size a new system for those mornings, not for a mild autumn afternoon.

    Weather that turns quickly

The Bureau describes how a typical Melbourne weather system plays out: warm northerly winds arrive first with higher temperatures, then a cold front can change conditions within minutes. On an open block that can mean cooling hard in the afternoon and heating again that night, so reverse-cycle equipment that does both well earns its place. Outdoor lights and power points need to be rated for the weather they will actually get.

Local information and practical answers before you arrange a visit.

Until handover the builder controls the site, and whether your own trades can work there depends on your building contract. Changes at that stage usually go through the builder. Once you have the keys, we can add points, circuits and lighting to the finished home. If you plan early, we can look at the plans and point out where extra outlets will be easiest to add later.

    • Couldn't be happier with Total Comfort Electrical & Air. I had a few quotes for the same job, but found some were extremely overpriced and others were quite pushy without really explaining why the work needed to be done. Aaron was completely different. He took his time, explained the job in detail, gave me more than one option and made sure I actually understood what I was paying for. He was extremely easy to deal with, did a great job and left everything clean and tidy. His price was competitive and the quality of the work was fantastic. It's honestly great to find a reliable tradesman who you can trust. Would definitely recommend Aaron and Total Comfort Electrical & Air!

    • 10/10 experience with these guys. Aaron did a fantastic job with the electrical work at my property and even gave me some spare light bulbs. He's a true gentleman and absolutely fantastic with kids. My daughter was so impressed she now wants to be an electrician! 😂 Highly recommend Aaron and the team!

    • Aaron was exceptional, I couldn't recommend him highly enough! He recently did some work at our house and was knowledgeable, tidy and genuinely lovely to have around. Our three year old followed him around for practically the entire day, and he was so patient and kind, happily chatting with her while he worked. We're so happy with everything he did and wouldn't hesitate to use him again.

    • Fantastic job today. Aaron arrived on time (was accurate in how long it would take), very professional, explaining everything as he went. Gave me extra tips on what to do in the future with my appliances. Best of all, he did a really good job (and really nice bloke). Would highly recommend.

    • Aaron did a great job of replacing a faultilt installed aircon on a 3 story townhouse. This wasn't a straightforward install given the property & there were suspected old leaks and further tests had to be done. He has many years of experience and talks you through it, manages the process and manages the expectations, timing delivery etc of more complex issues. He's really knowledgeable at what he does, and I got a free consult generally on my home and what would increase efficiencies in my home across the board. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, for the attention to detail and care you put into the work.

    • Aaron simply came to my rental to quote an exhaust fan. I was impressed by his explanations and honesty. He took the time to explain all facets of the task. I ended up asking him to install/service more than just an exhaust fan!

    • Aaron was super professional, did a fantastic job fixing my switchboard which was left in a complete mess by the solar / battery installers. Also installed an EV Charger, ceiling fans and replaced a split system. He didn't rush any part of the electrical works and was completely thorough and asked where and how I wanted everything installed.
