    The local picture

    Work that fits your property

Wyndham Vale is mostly estate housing built since the 2000s, with some earlier homes near the original township and new streets still going in. Double-storey family homes and townhouses are common. Old wiring is rarely the story here. The work is about builder-spec installations meeting what families add later: another air conditioner upstairs, lighting for a yard the builder left dark, a board with no spare room, smoke alarms reaching the end of their life. Our electricians and technicians plan those jobs around the switchboard you actually have, not the one on the brochure.

Every installation is different. We start with the symptoms, existing equipment and access, then explain the work needed and the options available.

    Homes in Wyndham Vale

    2000s and 2010s estate homes

Most were built with a modern switchboard and safety switches, but the board was sized for the house as sold. Extra appliances often end up sharing circuits nobody planned for them, and there may be no spare space for a new one. Smoke alarms are worth a look too. Homes built after 1 August 1997 must have hardwired alarms with battery backup, and the Building and Plumbing Commission advises replacing alarms generally after ten years, so the originals in many of these houses are due.

    Double-storey homes and townhouses

Two storeys change both trades. Upstairs bedrooms hold the day's heat well into the evening, and a single ducted system with one thermostat downstairs rarely keeps both floors even. Zoning, or a split system in the worst room, is the usual answer. Cable routes are tighter as well: a new circuit upstairs has to find a path through the ceiling space between floors, and townhouses with shared walls or narrow side setbacks limit where an outdoor unit can go without blocking a path or annoying the neighbours.

New builds and the original township

The streets still going in bring different questions. From 1 January 2027, all new homes will be required to be built all-electric, and new homes that need a planning permit already must be. That puts heating, hot water and cooking on the switchboard, so capacity should be settled at the design stage. At the other end, the older homes near the original township have more in common with established Werribee: older boards, fewer circuits and a wiring check before anything big is added.

Heating and cooling in Wyndham Vale

Estate homes from the 2000s commonly went up with gas ducted heating, often paired with a ducted evaporative cooler in the same roof space. Upstairs rooms are the hard part in summer, especially on hot north-wind evenings. Newer homes lean toward ducted reverse-cycle, which heats and cools from one system. The Victorian Government recommends zoning ducted systems so living areas and bedrooms can be run on their own, and that matters more in a two-storey house than almost anywhere.

    Local notes

    One of Wyndham's growth areas

Wyndham Vale is a City of Wyndham suburb, and it is named with Truganina, Tarneit and Manor Lakes as a residential growth area where new housing developments are planned. For existing owners that means more building nearby, and newer homes on the next street designed around current rules rather than those your house was built to.

    Supplied through Powercor

Wyndham Vale is listed in the area fed by Powercor's Altona Terminal Station (West), which supplies part of Melbourne's western growth corridor. If a storm brings a line down, keep well clear of it and anything it touches. Energy Safe Victoria says fallen or unsafe powerlines go to your local electricity distribution company, which here is Powercor.

    Cold, still winter nights

The Bureau of Meteorology's long-running Laverton station records a mean July minimum of 5.2 °C, with June at 5.9 °C and August at 5.7 °C. Victorians typically use more energy for heating than cooling, so when we size or zone a system we start with heating output, not cooling.

If they are the originals, probably. The Building and Plumbing Commission advises replacing smoke alarms in line with the manufacturer's specifications, generally after ten years, and newer units carry an expiry date under the battery. A house of that age should already have hardwired alarms with battery backup, and a hardwired alarm must be installed by a qualified electrician. If you are planning a large renovation or extension, interconnected alarms come into it as well.

    • Couldn't be happier with Total Comfort Electrical & Air. I had a few quotes for the same job, but found some were extremely overpriced and others were quite pushy without really explaining why the work needed to be done. Aaron was completely different. He took his time, explained the job in detail, gave me more than one option and made sure I actually understood what I was paying for. He was extremely easy to deal with, did a great job and left everything clean and tidy. His price was competitive and the quality of the work was fantastic. It's honestly great to find a reliable tradesman who you can trust. Would definitely recommend Aaron and Total Comfort Electrical & Air!

    • Aaron was exceptional, I couldn't recommend him highly enough! He recently did some work at our house and was knowledgeable, tidy and genuinely lovely to have around. Our three year old followed him around for practically the entire day, and he was so patient and kind, happily chatting with her while he worked. We're so happy with everything he did and wouldn't hesitate to use him again.

    • Fantastic job today. Aaron arrived on time (was accurate in how long it would take), very professional, explaining everything as he went. Gave me extra tips on what to do in the future with my appliances. Best of all, he did a really good job (and really nice bloke). Would highly recommend.

    • Aaron did a great job of replacing a faultilt installed aircon on a 3 story townhouse. This wasn't a straightforward install given the property & there were suspected old leaks and further tests had to be done. He has many years of experience and talks you through it, manages the process and manages the expectations, timing delivery etc of more complex issues. He's really knowledgeable at what he does, and I got a free consult generally on my home and what would increase efficiencies in my home across the board. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, for the attention to detail and care you put into the work.

    • Aaron was super professional, did a fantastic job fixing my switchboard which was left in a complete mess by the solar / battery installers. Also installed an EV Charger, ceiling fans and replaced a split system. He didn't rush any part of the electrical works and was completely thorough and asked where and how I wanted everything installed.
