    The local picture

    Work that fits your property

Little River is a small township surrounded by farmland and lifestyle blocks, between Werribee and the Geelong corridor. The electrical work follows that split. In the township it's mostly family homes on a single switchboard that has been added to over the years. Out on bigger blocks the house is one building among several, with a shed, studio or garage workshop fed from it, sometimes on a cable nobody can trace. Little River sits beyond our core suburbs, so we take enquiries and confirm the address, scope and travel before booking. Tell us how far the work is from the main switchboard and what supply is already there.

Every installation is different. We start with the symptoms, existing equipment and access, then explain the work needed and the options available.

    Homes in Little River

    Houses in the township

Township houses run from older homes that have been extended over the years to newer builds on roomy blocks. In the older ones, work has usually happened piece by piece: a new kitchen one decade, a heater or air conditioner the next, each wired onto whichever circuit had room. That leaves boards where some circuits have safety switch protection and others don't, and breakers labelled with a guess. When an existing installation is altered, the Wiring Rules require additional safety switch protection, so adding a split system or a new circuit is a good moment to sort out the board properly rather than add one more patch.

    Acreage and lifestyle blocks

On a bigger block the house is the hub for everything else: a tank or bore pump, a gate motor, driveway and yard lights, maybe a light in the stables or the chook shed. Most of those circuits leave the house underground, and the route is rarely written down. A new fence line or garden bed is often how a buried cable gets found. We trace where circuits go, label them at the board and note the routes, so the next trench doesn't find them the hard way. When a pump won't start, the cause can be the pump, its pressure switch or the cable feeding it, so we test each one before anything is replaced.

    Sheds, studios and separate buildings

A hobby shed with lights and a couple of outlets is a very different job from a studio, home office or granny flat with its own split system and kitchenette. The bigger the load, the heavier the cable from the house needs to be, and the more sense it makes to give the building its own small switchboard so circuits out there can be isolated and protected on the spot. We work out the route with you, under the driveway, along a fence line or across the garden, and protect the cable wherever it comes out of the ground. Plan for what the building might become, not only what it is now, because upsizing a buried cable later means digging it all up again.

Heating and cooling in Little River

Heating does the heavier lifting in most Little River homes. Victorians generally use more energy heating than cooling, so compare systems on their heating efficiency first. Older township houses often have one heater in the living area and cold rooms everywhere else, and a split system in the main bedroom or a ducted reverse-cycle system spreads the warmth further. Summer brings a different job. Dust from paddocks and gravel drives clogs filters and outdoor coils, so plan on cleaning them more often than you would in town.

    Local notes

A locality split by a council boundary

Wyndham City lists part of Little River among its suburbs and localities, alongside neighbours such as Cocoroc and Mambourin, so the rest of the locality sits outside Wyndham. That matters when you plan a new shed, studio or granny flat, because the council covering your address is the one to ask about planning or building approval. Settle that and the building's position first. The cable route, and whether the building needs its own switchboard, follow from where it ends up.

    Northerly days on open ground

The Bureau of Meteorology's Laverton station, east of Little River, averages 27 days a year at or above 30 °C and 9.4 days at or above 35 °C, most of them between December and February. The Bureau describes warm northerly winds often arriving first as a weather system crosses Melbourne, with a cold front able to change conditions within minutes. A house with little shade takes that heat quickly, so where the layout allows, we keep the outdoor unit out of the afternoon sun and clear of anything that blocks its airflow.

    Three months of cold nights

At the same Laverton station, July is the coldest month with a mean minimum of 5.2 °C, and June and August are close behind at 5.9 °C and 5.7 °C. That long run of cold nights is why we size a reverse-cycle system on its heating capacity for the room first and look at cooling second. A unit that will run through long winter evenings also goes on a dedicated circuit or behind a safety switch wherever the manufacturer's specifications call for it, as Energy Safe Victoria's guidance requires.

Local information and practical answers before you arrange a visit.

Yes, by enquiry. Little River is further out than most of the suburbs we cover from Altona Meadows, so we confirm the address, the scope and the travel before anything is booked. That gives you a straight answer early on whether the job suits us, and once it's scoped you get the price before we start. If it isn't a fit, we'll tell you so rather than leave you waiting.

    • Couldn't be happier with Total Comfort Electrical & Air. I had a few quotes for the same job, but found some were extremely overpriced and others were quite pushy without really explaining why the work needed to be done. Aaron was completely different. He took his time, explained the job in detail, gave me more than one option and made sure I actually understood what I was paying for. He was extremely easy to deal with, did a great job and left everything clean and tidy. His price was competitive and the quality of the work was fantastic. It's honestly great to find a reliable tradesman who you can trust. Would definitely recommend Aaron and Total Comfort Electrical & Air!

    • Aaron was exceptional, I couldn't recommend him highly enough! He recently did some work at our house and was knowledgeable, tidy and genuinely lovely to have around. Our three year old followed him around for practically the entire day, and he was so patient and kind, happily chatting with her while he worked. We're so happy with everything he did and wouldn't hesitate to use him again.

    • Fantastic job today. Aaron arrived on time (was accurate in how long it would take), very professional, explaining everything as he went. Gave me extra tips on what to do in the future with my appliances. Best of all, he did a really good job (and really nice bloke). Would highly recommend.

    • Aaron did a great job of replacing a faultilt installed aircon on a 3 story townhouse. This wasn't a straightforward install given the property & there were suspected old leaks and further tests had to be done. He has many years of experience and talks you through it, manages the process and manages the expectations, timing delivery etc of more complex issues. He's really knowledgeable at what he does, and I got a free consult generally on my home and what would increase efficiencies in my home across the board. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, for the attention to detail and care you put into the work.

    • Aaron was super professional, did a fantastic job fixing my switchboard which was left in a complete mess by the solar / battery installers. Also installed an EV Charger, ceiling fans and replaced a split system. He didn't rush any part of the electrical works and was completely thorough and asked where and how I wanted everything installed.
